HOUSE BUNNIES

Every quarter, we work with various local rabbit rescue organizations to help us define which rabbits are able to socialize and need a forever home. A portion of our profits from Bunny Lounge reservations will be donated to the rescues we work with, along with other various charities.

Our bunnies are adoptable! Interview(s) with interested parties in adopting will be conducted with the organization that has placed the bunny. Upon a successful interview, a $120 adoption fee will be paid directly to the rescue organization, and Bunny Cafe San Francisco will provide a Small Pet Select starter pack (hay, pellets, treats, litter box, et cetera) at no extra charge.

Cleo & Leo
Female, Male | 6.5 years

Cleo is a big, beautiful New Zealand white with calm, queen energy. Leo is her devoted New Zealand black partner—slightly smaller, totally smitten. This mellow bonded pair is as striking to look at as they are sweet to know.

Big bunnies are often calmer and gentler, making them wonderful companions—especially for families. At 6.5 years young, Cleo and Leo are litter-box trained, vaccinated, spayed/neutered, and ready to move in. Double the love, double the charm.

Pipette
Female | 1 years

Pipette is an adorable little girl available through special adoption only. Sweet, affectionate, and fun, she loves attention and brings a whole lot of joy for such a small bunny.

Because of her breed, Pipette’s teeth will need extra monitoring with a veterinarian every few months. She must also be thoroughly groomed 2-3 times a week. She will do best with a guardian who understands her needs and is financially prepared for the ongoing care she requires. In the right home, Pipette will be a joyful and deeply rewarding companion.

ADOPTED! - Riley

Michi
Male | 1 years

Michi is a very sociable rabbit looking for a forever home. His hobbies include eating, long naps, and receiving pets and scritches.

When asked about any other interests, Michi began a two hour tangent about how Chainsaw Man is societal commentary. His favorite film is Princess Mononoke.

Han
Male | 2 years

Han is a suave, soothing, bundle of joy looking for a forever home. He’s coy about wanting attention, but will reciprocate with lots of nuzzles and bunny kisses.

His dream is to be in a Star Wars movie, but when asked further, expressed a disinterest in having anything to do with Dave Filoni.

These bunnies have found their ‘furever’ homes through their placements at Bunny Cafe San Francisco. We hope they come visit us again soon!

Female | 5 years

Milkyway is a tender, intelligent bunny looking for a forever home. She enjoys solving puzzles, foraging for treats, and observing things very intently.

Milkyway loves astronomy, and hopes to conduct her own research on biological viability on Mars. She cites Mae Jemison and Kathryn Sullivan as her heroes.

Acorn
Female | 3 years

Acorn is a loving, sweet lady looking for a forever home. She enjoys spending time with others, but would rather be at home snuggled under the covers than out at clubs on a Friday night.

HOW WE CARE FOR OUR BUNNIES

We understand that there are many questions about the way we operate, but we are working towards robust procedures that ensure the safety of our rabbits and our guests. Our staff is provided with ample training, and guests will receive clear instructions on how to interact with our bunnies during their visit(s).

  • The safe and comfortable transportation of bunnies from a rescue center to Bunny Cafe San Francisco is a critical step in their transition. Our protocol ensures minimum stress and maximum security for every animal.

  • 10-12 rabbits will be on-site with 1 to 2 Bun Ambassadors to monitor their behavior, feeding times, food/drink intake, and guest interaction. We cannot guarantee that all the bunnies listed above will always be in the Lounge, as bunny appearances are dependent on their needs (rest, socialization, et cetera). Our Bun Ambassadors will fulfill checklists daily to ensure the well-being of the bunnies; please see below.

  • The appropriate health checks, vaccines, and behavioral exams are given to bunnies before they come in to the cafe. New resident bunnies have ~48 hours to adjust to the Lounge before free roaming and interacting with guests. Rabbits are closely observed while under our care, and if they are not comfortable in the Lounge, will be rotated out. Each bunny that rotates into the Bunny Cafe San Francisco has a tenancy of up to 30 days.

  • Vet techs, professional groomers, and cleaners sanitize litter boxes and bunny living spaces as needed.

  • All the greens provided to our rabbits are organic and thoroughly cleaned.

  • Pellet intake is monitored by facial recognition technology from our partners at Pifi.

  • Our hay, pellets, and chew toys are provided by Small Pet Select.

  • Rabbits stay on-site for the entirety of their tenure at the Bunny Cafe San Francisco. After hours, unless bonded, bunnies are separated and monitored by our on-site emergency team and cameras.

  • In the event of an emergency, our silent fire alarm will be triggered, and our tag specifies how many bunnies are on-site to first responders.
